Marcos Lucio Popovich joined Barr in 2013 as a Proteus Fund Diversity Fellow and in 2014 became a program fellow on the Foundation’s Education team, managing grants within the out-of-school time and K–12 strategies. In July 2015, he was appointed a program officer at the Nellie Mae Education Foundation.
